EXPERIENCED COOK / KITCHEN LEAD (DAYTIME HOURS) at The Whiskery @ Bellarine Distillery

JOB DESCRIPTION

We’re looking for a reliable and organised cook to join our team at The Whiskery, home of Bellarine Distillery in Drysdale.

This is a permanent part-time, daytime-only position, no evening service, with approximately 24–28 hours available each week, primarily across Thursday/Friday to Sunday.

Our established menu is designed for relaxed distillery dining and includes pizzas using pre-made bases, fryer items, local cheese boards, hummus and crudités. We’re looking for someone who can confidently manage preparation and service, maintain excellent food-safety and cleaning standards, and take ownership of stock levels and kitchen organisation.

You’ll be joining a warm, experienced hospitality team in a beautiful and unique venue.

What we’re looking for:

• Previous commercial kitchen experience
• Current, recognised food-safety handling certification appropriate to the role
• Calm, organised and reliable approach
• Confidence working independently and during busy weekend service
• Strong food-safety, stock-rotation and cleanliness standards
• Good communication with our front-of-house team
• Formal chef qualifications are welcome but not essential

REQUIREMENTS

REQUIREMENTS

• Previous experience working independently in a commercial kitchen
• Availability across Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with some potential for Thursday preparation hours, plus additional hours for the right candidate. 
• Current recognised food-safety handling certification appropriate to the role
• Sound understanding of food hygiene, allergen management, stock rotation and safe food storage
• Confidence preparing and serving pizzas, fryer items, cheese boards and cold dishes
• Ability to organise preparation, monitor stock levels and maintain a clean, orderly kitchen
• Calm and dependable during busy weekend service
• Strong communication and ability to work collaboratively with the front-of-house team
• Australian working rights
• Reliable transport to our Drysdale venue

DESIRABLE

• Food Safety Supervisor certification
• Experience with ordering, stock control or supervising kitchen support staff
• Formal cookery qualifications are welcome but not essential

• Current Victorian RSA
