Bar Supervisor at The Lobo

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Lobo is looking for a Bar Supervisor! This is a great position for someone wanting mentorship in developing memorable cocktails and menus, leading teams and learning how to deliver great services. Whilst we are looking for someone with experience, we are happy to review candidates with Head Bartender experience who have references to back that they're ready for that next step up. 

This position will work closely with our Bar Manager delivering menus, drinks and creative projects, with the support of our Senior Management Team.

What we are looking for

  • Minimum 2 years of cocktail experience in a similar style venue, however we are willing to look at less experience with the right attitude.
  • Weekend availability is a must. Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays are our biggest days and will require potential candidates to be available to work. 
  • Someone who is comfortable shifting gears and positions. As a small team we all share the load of bartending, barbacking and hosting the floor.
  • A personality that welcomes and engages with guests. Our style of service is all about getting to know everyone that walks through our doors, leading with Big Hellos. We don’t expect you to be the loudest in the room, but we do expect a passion for connecting with people.
  • A decent knowledge of classic cocktails and spirits. In the CBD we get a lot of people asking for their favourite cocktails and even more so a riff on them. Being confident in your knowledge and ability is a huge green tick for us.
  • Experience in curating and developing cocktails for menus, with a solid understanding of techniques, prep and delivery.
  • Experience and understanding of the Rum category is preferred but not required, but a passion to learn and drive education is expected.
  • Full Working Rights in Australia. We will consider WHV on merit but ultimately we are looking for someone who will be with us long-term and has aspirations to grow within the business.
  • Able to work until 2 AM (plus closing times of 30–45 minutes max), and comfortable traveling to and from work with late nights in mind.
  • Strong attention to detail, we have 3 rotating menus with extensive prep. Quality control and consistency are key focuses within this role.

To be considered for the Bar Supervisor role, previous management experience is highly preferred but will review candidates who have references proving they are ready to take a step up. The Lobo prides itself on creating safe and supportive workspaces, and potential candidates should be passionate about creating positive a work culture and space.

Once trained up, this position is available to be enjoyed on a 4 day work week, with a maximum of 2 closes per week (only modified during management A/L).

REQUIREMENTS

 

Minimum 6 months in a similar position.

Minimum 2 years experience in creating cocktails for menus, we will ask about previous cocktails listed and creative processes.

Experience in administrative duties (nightly reports, email management, operational organisation, etc)

An ability to independently handle day to day operations and cash handling.
